The short version
Paw Weather collects no data. There are no accounts, no ads, no analytics, and no tracking of any kind. Everything you enter stays on your phone, except the town name you type for a trip, which is looked up by Apple (see Location).
Location
If you allow location access ("While Using the App"), your coordinates are sent to a public weather service to fetch the local forecast: the National Weather Service (api.weather.gov) in the United States, and MET Norway (api.met.no) everywhere else. Apart from that, your location is only ever handled by Apple's own iOS services: to show the map, to look up the name of the place outside the United States, and to make a walk course when you ask for one (see below). We never store, log, or share your location, and the app works without it — you can pick a city manually instead.
Walk routes. When you start a walk in the app, it records your route so the map can show which parts of the walk were GO, CAUTION or DANGER. This uses the location background mode only between "Start walk" and "End walk", so the route keeps recording if your screen locks mid-walk; it stops as soon as the walk ends. Routes are stored on your phone only. They are never uploaded, there is no sharing feature, and you can delete any walk from the walk list.
Walk courses. When you tap "Choose a course", the app asks Apple Maps (MapKit, built into iOS) for nearby parks around your start point, and then for walking directions between your start point and the parks it picked as waypoints. Only those points are sent, only at that moment, and only to Apple — never to us. Your recorded walk routes are never sent. "Usual routes" are worked out on your phone from your own past walks and are not sent anywhere. Apple handles these requests under its own privacy policy (apple.com/legal/privacy).
Trip destinations. When you add a trip and type a town or city, that text is sent to Apple's geocoding service (built into iOS) to find the place. The app does not attach your location to that request. From a week before the trip, and only while you have that trip open, the destination's coordinates are sent to the same public weather services (NWS or MET Norway) to fetch the forecast there. The destination is saved with the plan on your phone only.
Your dog's profile & settings
Names, photos, breed details, and preferences are stored only on your device. They are never uploaded anywhere. Deleting the app deletes them.
Care records, condition logs, weight, medicines, care plans (including trip destinations and packing lists) and diary entries are stored the same way: on your device only.
Sharing with ホメなう。 (PraisePup, same developer)
So our puppy-training app ホメなう。 (PraisePup) can use them on the same iPhone, Paw Weather writes the selected dog's name, breed, birth month and photo, and the times of pee and poop logged on walks in the last 14 days, to Apple's on-device shared container for apps from the same developer (App Group). This stays on your iPhone: nothing is uploaded, and the developer receives nothing. If ホメなう。 isn't installed, nothing reads it.
Purchases
Paw Weather Pro is offered three ways: a monthly subscription with a free trial, a yearly subscription, or a one-time purchase. Subscriptions renew automatically until you cancel them in your Apple ID settings. Prices are shown in the App Store. If you started the 14-day free trial offered in version 1.4.0, it keeps working until it ends; it was never charged automatically.
All purchases are processed entirely by Apple through your Apple ID. We never see your payment details. Purchases can be restored on the same Apple ID from Settings → Restore purchases.
Notifications
Alerts, care plan reminders (vet visits, vaccines, preventives, grooming, pet hotel stays and trips), medicine reminders, cold-night alerts, the walk-length reminder and the reminder before a 1.4.0 free trial ends are all scheduled locally on your device. No push servers are involved.
Third parties
No analytics, no ad networks, no tracking SDKs — nothing in this app reports back to us. The app connects to the two public weather services above, to Apple Maps (MapKit) for the walk map and — only when you ask for a walk course — for park search and walking directions, and to Apple's geocoding service when you type a trip destination. Purchases go through Apple's App Store; we never see your payment details.
This website
This website (not the app) uses Cloudflare Web Analytics to count visits. It sets no cookies and collects no personally identifiable information. The app itself still sends nothing.
